Early adolescence is a challenging stage in the development of all children. They are growing physically, intellectually, and socially more during these years than they have at any other time in their lives. The Franklin Avenue Middle School community recognizes this fact and provides students with the proper support and encouragement so that they may leave middle school with the skills requisite for a successful career in high school and beyond.

School News and Views via Constant Contact
Welcome to good news updates about Franklin Lakes Public Schools via the Constant Contact direct email resource. In our continuing effort to meet the communication needs of our constituency, we look to publish messages from a variety of sources that will inform our school and general communities. Issues will provide information from our District office and our schools and also incorporate more from such sources as our Board of Education, school partners (e.g., PTA, FLEF, Borough), and student related town organizations (e.g., Recreation, Public Library, Municipal Alliance).

There is no need to click, search, or subscribe; the Constant Contact communication will come directly to you. Of course, you can unsubscribe from this resource at any time and then re-subscribe in the future. Enjoy!

FAMS Coffee Chat
As we begin a new school year, I want to continue to keep the door of communication between school and home open.  To this end, I would like to cordially invite parents to a FAMS Coffee Chat.
  • 6th Grade - September 30 - 9:30am
  • 7th Grade - October 1 - 9:30am
  • 8th Grade - October 2 - 9:30am
During this time, I would like to discuss my expectations and goals for the 2014-2015 school year, 1:1 Laptop Initiative, Aspen/Genesis Parent Access system, Common Core and curriculum changes, Character Education program, and answer any other pertinent questions.  This meeting will coincide with our Fall Book Fair and parents will be invited to view and purchase any books for the school year.  The PTA has worked with Scholastic to provide the students with a great opportunity to build their book collections.

Thank you for your support and I look forward to seeing you at a FAMS Coffee Chat.
8th Grade Information Meeting
On Monday, September 29th, there will be two important information meetings regarding 8th grade students.  At 7:00PM, there will be an 8th Grade Trip parent meeting that will outline the details of the trip as well as the process for registering and payment.  Students will receive a registration packet this week during Homeroom.

Following this meeting, at 7:30PM, the FAMS Guidance staff will provide important information regarding the selection of a high school for next year.  Both meetings are extremely important and will provide a variety of information for parents.
